1984 Porsche 928 S

Offered as Porsche's flagship 928 model upon its debut, the 928 S equips a more powerful 4.7-liter V8 engine, 16" forged aluminum wheels, upgraded brakes, aerodynamic spoilers, and enhanced creature comforts compared to the standard model. This 1984 example comes finished in Guards Red over a reupholstered tan interior with custom Pepita fabric and features a 4-speed automatic transaxle. Reportedly purchased new from the Porsche & Audi Collection dealership in Miami and subsequently kept in long-term climate-controlled storage, this 928 S is now offered out of Florida and is noted to run roughly following an extended period of inactivity. The cabin was reupholstered under prior ownership, featuring tan upholstery and carpeting contrasted with Pepita fabric inserts along the front seats and door cards, while the seller notes that the tan carpeting and brown trim pieces are factory original. Accessories include the original Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 cassette stereo, an additional amplifier, an alarm system, a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows, and 8-way power-adjustable front seats. The seller would like you to know: “We’ve just received this fantastic 1984 Porsche 928 S on consignment. The seller is a Porsche collector and has decided to sell part of his collection. We were told by the seller that he purchased this car brand new off the showroom floor after a very successful business venture. This car was purchased from the Porsche & Audi Collection dealership in Miami, Florida. Since purchased, this car has always been stored in the seller’s climate-controlled facility amongst the rest of his collection. Now, this car now sits in our showroom. The Guards Red paint is in great condition, with no flaking or peeling. It’s a warm and vibrant red that is no longer offered as a color option today. As some of you Porsche enthusiasts may know, the 928 S comes with a spoiler from factory. The spoiler is in superb condition and does not have any scratches or cracks. The seller previously had the front seats and door cards reupholstered with a wonderful Pepita fabric. The seller’s long-time friend is a professional upholsterer, and his dedication to the craft shows. The upholsterer also made a custom Porsche suitcase for the seller, featuring Pepita fabric on the front and back and tan leather trim that matches the interior of the car. The tan carpeting and brown interior pieces are all factory original and in amazing condition. There are no odors in this car either and is most certainly not a smoker’s car. The original Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 radio is still intact and fully operational. The audio sounds great too. The instrument cluster is clear and free of haze or fungus and all the gauges work as they should. In the trunk, there are no rips, tears, or stains. Under the carpet is the factory original space-saver spare, jack, and the seller’s emergency accessory belts. The seller has provided the original Porsche 928 S Warranty & Maintenance book as well. In this book, there are several stamps of service. This 928S is here on consignment from a local storage company that took possession of the car because of non-payment. For over a year, the storage company tried to get paid the storage fee at their climate- controlled facility. The owner brought the car to the storage facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. He paid the storage each month on auto-pay up until February of 2025. The auto-pay was disconnected/cancelled and the storage company didn’t get paid. The storage company tried vigorously to find the owner, but to no avail. The months spun by without getting their storage fee. Then during May of 2026 the storage company filed for a bonded title. Within a few weeks they received a phone call from the trustee of the car’s owner. He had announced that the owner passed away in Minnesota at the end of December 2024. No one had any idea of a Porsche 928 stored in Sarasota, Florida. The trustee explained that the estate of the car’s owner was settled and closed during 2025. The estate went to the deceased’s brother. The trustee then went on to say that the deceased’s brother had also passed away. The trustee in Minnesota said he did not want to get involved in the relinquishment of the Porsche. He said “do what you want with the car, I will not contest you”. Luckily the trustee had the ability to obtain a duplicate title in Minnesota. The storage company paid to get a duplicate title and stopped the bonded title process. We now have in our possession a clean title to this Porsche 928 S. The car is supper nice, but doesn’t run good from sitting. It drives and shifts, but runs rough. The problem is that the storage company will not invest a penny into the car, and we do not have authority to spend money on the car. The bottom line is this; someone will get a very nice 928 S for way less than market value. The storage company just wants their lost money recovered as quickly as possible. The storage company want the car sold ASAP for whatever the market thinks it’s worth. NOTE OF IMPORTANCE: We are representing the storage company in the sale of this Porsche - we cannot diagnose the car or why it doesn’t run perfectly. We simply cannot spend money on the car - money we’ll never get back. THEREFORE, it is sold AS IS. For all we know it just needs fresh fuel. - old fuel drained, etc. We will not guess."
