572-Powered GMC Pickup Custom

This custom GMC pickup was modified by Warren Broughn from 2015 to 2020. It was built around a 1956 cab, and includes a 1955 Chevrolet passenger-car front sheet metal conversion along with smoothed and modified body panels. The truck earned second-place in the Custom Truck category at the 2022 Grand National Roadster Show, and it is powered by a 572ci Chevrolet V8 paired with a GM 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in “Dodger” blue over ivory and gray leather upholstery, the truck rides on a custom-fabricated chassis with a Mustang II-style independent front suspension, a Jaguar independent rear suspension, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. Additional equipment includes dual Edelbrock carburetors, rack-and-pinion steering, a wood-plank cargo bed floor, Vintage Air climate control, power windows, and a Custom Autosound Bluetooth stereo system. This custom pickup is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records, a Grand National Roadster Show trophy, and a California title describing it as a 1956 GMC. The exterior features a molded windshield visor, one-piece side window glass, and a custom rear roll pan with LED tail lights. The truck is finished in “Dodger” blue and features a chrome grille and bumpers, a driver-side mirror, a smoothed tailgate with Chevrolet script lettering, and a wood-plank cargo bed floor concealed by a power-operated bed cover. A fuel filler is mounted to the bed rail. The 15″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels measure 8.5″ wide up front and 10.5″ out back and are mounted with 27×10.50 front and 29×12.50 rear Hoosier Pro Street radials. The truck is built on a custom-fabricated chassis that features a Mustang II-style independent front suspension with tubular control arms and coilover shocks. A fully independent Jaguar IRS assembly with inboard-mounted components and polished suspension hardware is fitted out back. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted Wilwood disc brakes at each corner. The brake pads and a brake flex line were replaced in November 2021, and the brake bell crank linkage was modified at that time. The bench seat is upholstered in ivory and gray leather and tan German square-weave carpet lines the floor. The 1955 Chevrolet passenger-car dashboard is fitted with custom inserts, and additional appointments include power windows, an aftermarket shifter, a glovebox, and seatbelts. The Custom Autosound Secretaudio SST-V Bluetooth stereo is linked to aftermarket speakers. The electrical system utilizes a Painless Performance trunk-mount wiring harness. The seller notes that the Vintage Air climate control system requires refrigerant service. The custom steering wheel is mounted to an Ididit tilt column and sits ahead of Classic Instruments gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 766 miles. The 572ci Chevrolet big-block V8 was installed in 2019 and features dual Edelbrock carburetors. The front carburetor was disabled in November 2021 to address driving and idle issues. Additional work in 2021 included replacing the oil pressure/fuel pump safety switch and the spark plugs. The engine bay features a concealed battery and polished lines. The carburetor was cleaned, the fuel system was flushed, and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was modified and re-valved for smoother shifting in November 2021. The fully finished chassis and undercarriage components have been polished and ceramic-coated.
