440-Powered 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger

This 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger was owned by a friend of the seller from 2002 through 2025, during which time it was fitted with a 440ci V8. The engine is augmented by a Weiand high-rise intake manifold, twin Holley carburetors, a Crower hydraulic camshaft, electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, dual auxiliary electric cooling fans, Hooker headers, and a 3″ dual exhaust system. The 727 three-speed automatic transmission has been updated with TransGo programming, Redline clutches, and a stall converter. A shortened 8¾” rear end contains limited-slip 4.56:1 gearing, and other equipment includes a custom hood scoop, staggered-width Center Line 15″ wheels, front disc brakes, and a modified suspension as well as bolstered front bucket seats, a B&M shifter, and an AutoMeter tachometer. The seller purchased the car in 2025, and it was repainted metallic blue in early 2026. This modified Dart is now offered with service records and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The car was repainted in metallic blue in spring 2026; the right front of the vehicle had been damaged in 2018 and repaired by a body shop, the seller tells us. A white stripe accents the tail of the Dodge, which also has bright trim, a driver-side mirror, a concave rear window, and chrome bumpers. The rear glass and its moldings were replaced in 2025. The seller notes chips and scratches in the paint, and one of the taillights is cracked. The quick-release hood has four securing pins and a custom white scoop. Center Line wheels measuring 15×3.5″ in front and 15×10″ at the rear are mounted with 145SR15 Michelin XZX front tires and 295/50 Firestone Firehawk rear rubber; the front tires have been replaced under current ownership. The rear suspension has been updated with a relocator kit for the Super Stock springs as well as a pinion snubber. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. The cabin features bolstered front bucket seats trimmed in black and gray cloth, and the rear bench seat is upholstered in blue vinyl. The cracked dash top is fitted with a carpeted cover. Latch-and-link front seatbelts have been added along with aftermarket toggle switches and Mopar-logo floor mats. A B&M Pro Ratchet shifter is stationed between the seats. The headliner is split at seams, the rear bench is torn, and the AM radio is not hooked up. The Grant GT steering wheel attaches to a rebuilt column and fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, warning lights, and supplementary gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and alternator status. An AutoMeter Sport-Comp 10k-rpm tachometer is positioned atop the dashboard, and AutoMeter gauges for oil pressure and water temperature have been added below the dash. The speedometer needle is missing, and the vehicle lacks an odometer. The seller estimates that 1,500 miles have been driven since the engine was replaced, approximately 500 of which were accumulated under current ownership; true mileage is unknown. The 440ci V8 was installed in this car in 2019. The cylinder heads are said to have been matched, ported, and polished. The engine is further augmented by a Weiand high-rise intake manifold, dual Holley 450-cfm four-barrel carburetors, a Crower hydraulic camshaft, Mopar Performance rocker covers, and a four-core aluminum radiator with dual auxiliary electric cooling fans and relays as well as an H.E.I. distributor, electronic ignition, a PerTronix Flame-Thrower ignition coil, a Mallory electric fuel pump, and a replacement fuel tank. The battery has been relocated to the trunk compartment. The Hooker fenderwell headers have been coated in Cerakote product and feed a 3″ dual exhaust system that terminates ahead of the rear axle. The car’s chassis number indicates that it was originally powered by a 225ci slant-six. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in 2025 and utilizes TransGo programming, Redline Performance clutches, a 2,800-rpm-stall torque converter, and a shift kit. The 8¾” rear end has been shortened and is fitted with a 4.56:1 limited-slip differential.
