1973 DeTomaso Pantera

This 1973 DeTomaso Pantera is a white-over-black example that is said to have been sold new in San Francisco, California, and it was previously acquired by the selling dealer on BaT in April 2017 . Now showing 38k miles, the car was sold on BaT in December 2023 and subsequently reacquired by the selling dealer. Power is provided by a mid-mounted 351ci Cleveland V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, and equipment includes a Holley carburetor, pop-up headlights, disc brakes, 15″ Campagnolo wheels, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo. This Pantera is offered with a spare set of wheels and clean Texas title. The Pantera’s bodywork was designed under the direction of American designer Tom Tjaarda, and this example is finished in white with black bumpers and lower bodywork. Equipment includes a chrome-finished driver’s side mirror, polished quad exhaust outlets, and pop-up headlights. Work performed under current ownership included refinishing chipped paint on the decklid and a scuff on the left-rear quarter panel. The majority of the photos were taken in August 2024. Silver 15″ Campagnolo alloy wheels are mounted with 205/60 front and 255/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The tie rod boots, steering rack, and brake fluid were replaced in 2026. The bucket seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl with perforated inserts, and they are accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include air conditioning, power windows, shoulder belts, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo. The air conditioning compressor, condenser, evaporator-drier, and hoses were replaced circa 2023. The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a Veglia Borletti 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,900-rpm redline, while gauges for amperage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 38k miles. The mid-mounted 351ci Ford Cleveland V8 is equipped with a Holley 600-cfm carburetor and an open-element air cleaner. The fuel pump, water pump, idler pulley, and spark plugs were replaced circa 2023, and the selling dealer notes that fluid changes were carried out in 2024. Work in August 2026 consisted of recharging the air conditioning, changing the oil and coolant, and replacing the intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, front and rear crank seals, thermostat, and battery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transaxle. The transmission fluid was exchanged in preparation for the sale.
