24k-Mile 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 400 W72 4-Speed

This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was purchased new on December 4th, 1978, through Sun Pontiac of Mesa, Arizona, and it remained with its original owner for a total of 44 years before its second owner purchased it in March 2024. They then sold it on BaT in May 2025 to the current owner, who has driven a few hundred of the 24k miles shown. Power is provided by a 400ci W72 V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential. The car was ordered with over $1k in options, including the WS6 Special Performance and Radio Accommodation packages, the Custom Trim and Lamp groups, Firebird decals for the shaker hood, and air conditioning. Other details include Cameo White paint, 15″ snowflake alloy wheels, a Hurst shifter, and blue velour and cloth upholstery. This Firebird Trans Am is now offered in Maryland on dealer consignment by a BaT Local Partner with a reproduction window sticker, PHS documents, spare and removed parts, service records, and a clean Arizona title. The car is finished in Cameo White with Firebird graphics on the shaker hood, and further exterior details include a front air dam, a rear decklid spoiler, sport mirrors, and side splitter exhaust outlets. The 15″ snowflake-style alloy wheels are mounted with 225/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires that were installed in July 2019. The car is equipped with the WS6 Special Performance Package, which added power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, a quick-ratio steering box, and a larger sway bar. It is further equipped with power steering. The Custom Trim Group added velour accents for the front bucket seats and individual rear seats, which have patterned cloth inserts. The dashboard, door panels, and carpets are color-coordinated, and the car was ordered with the Radio Accommodation Package, the Lamp Group, air conditioning, and floor mats. No-cost options include a center console and blue seatbelts. The interior is further appointed with a Hurst shifter and an engine-turned dash fascia. The Formula steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and fronts a 100-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 24k miles, less than 300 of which were added under current ownership. The 400ci V8 was factory equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 220 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. The starter was replaced in May 2024, and work in December 2025 included changing the oil, repairing the fuel pump, and replacing the air conditioning compressor, heater core, timing cover gasket, and various belts. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential. Corrosion is visible on underside components. The reproduction window sticker lists initial delivery to Sun Pontiac of Mesa, Arizona, as well as factory colors, equipment, and a total amount of $8,204.45. The removed rear and side window louvers are included in the sale along with PHS Documents, spare parts, and service records.
